Kilt Measuring Guide By Scottish Kilts Hub

At Scottish Kilts Hub, we want to ensure your kilt fits perfectly for both comfort and style. Follow this simple guide to take accurate measurements.

Kilt Measurement Guide

1. Waist Measurement

  • Stand straight and relax.
  • Identify the spot where you want your kilt to sit (usually 1-2 inches above your navel).
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your waist at this point, keeping it snug but not too tight.
  • Record the measurement in inches.

2. Hip Measurement

  • Stand with your feet together.
  • Measure the widest part of your hips, typically around your buttocks.
  • Ensure the measuring tape is level and snug.
  • Record the measurement in inches.

3. Kilt Length Measurement

  • Decide where the top of your kilt will sit (waist measurement point).
  • Measure from this point down to the middle of your kneecap.
  • Stand straight and ensure the tape is vertical.
  • Record the measurement in inches.

4. Fell Measurement (Optional)

The fell is the distance from the top of the kilt to the bottom of the waistband, typically ranging from 5 to 9 inches based on personal preference.
